İzmir Transportation Hackathon

Within the framework of İzQ Innovation Center activities, a hackathon with the main theme of “A Priority for Smart City Transformation: Smart Transportation System” was hosted by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology, our Chamber and UNDP, with the open data support of İzmir Metro A.Ş. and contributions of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. In the hackathon, Mahmut Özgener,  our President of the Board, Ufuk Tutan,  President of the Board of Metro A.Ş., Mustafa Özuslu, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Vice Mayor, and Seher Alacacı Arıner, UNDP Turkey Representative Deputy,  gave opening speeches and Haluk Yalçın, Price Water House Country Director, and Mustafa Kemal Akgül, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology Department Head,  also gave a speech. Actors Mert Fırat and Toprak Sergen presented the event. In the hackathon having been organized in İzmir Historical Airgas Factory and having lasted for 24 hours, the participants generated innovative project in the theme of sustainability and accessibility with the support of mentors to solve the problems identified by İzmir Metro A.Ş. in the rail transportation. Metrobot Project, which developed a user-driven and artificial intelligence-based application in the processes of the transportation system, had the first rank. Team 256 Project analyzing the density in metro stations through mathematical data and offering optimized dynamic schedules had the second rank. EsVision Project, which designed a warning system similar to traffic lights in order to control the passenger traffic while they are getting on and off in rail transportation, had the third rank. The first, second and third ranks were rewarded with 15.000 TL, 10.000 TL and 5.000 TL, respectively.
